Based Associates is an onchain community that builds cultural projects on base.

We launched Based Associates onchain cpollective with a vision of creating a global community of artists, developers and cultural entrepreneurs.

To bring art, culture and radical storytelling to the blockchain.

base

Base is a layer two Ethereum network founded by Coinbase with the mission to build a global onchain economy that increases innovation, creativity, and freedom and to bring the next billion people onchain.

Based Associates is DAO, an onchain community founded to build and promote cultural projects on base to help in this mission.

Associates

Membership is through the purchase of DAO tokens, with funds going to a joint governed treasury. Members can propose and vote of what to do with that treasury.

The Associates Hat along the base grad and brand colour #0052ff became the basis of the logo and design hook

“We are SO BASED”

Our first step on the journey was to get input from the base community. In collaboration with Based Management, another base DAO, we introduced The Suggestion Box NFT.

By buying the NFT on Zora the wider base community could leave their suggestion in the comments, building an onchain record of opinion.

We also launched the /sobased channel on blockchain social media platform Warpcast as news channel.

SO BASED memes & The HAT

We then launched a collaborative meme competition on Farcaster, using a downloadable Associate’s Hat and the SO BASED slogan for the base community to create their own memes.

The Token Art

For the DAO token art we created a generative collection combining the base colors and grad along with a nod to the illuminati pyramid.

Season 1: MoBA

For the first season, The DAO established MoBA - The Museum of Based ARTFKTS, an onchain archive of over 1100 pieces of art, media, memetics, music, publishing, video and cultural artefacts release on base during the first year.

Metaverse Museum

We are currently building a version of MoBA in The Metaverse curated across multiple collections.

Season 2

The DAO has now paused membership and is building a new onchain brand and app for release mid-October. More details will be released soon.
